Installing SyVox

SyVox is designed to run on many different platforms, each of which has its own unique characteristics. Here you will find detailed guides for how to install SyVox on all of its supported platforms.

Installing SyVox also allows you to interact with your device's GUI on your PC over an ActiveSync connection. This can make setup and maintenance much faster, especially if you're deploying to a large number of terminals or to terminals lacking touch screens. To use this feature, SyVox must already be installed on your device (if your device requires a cold boot for SyVox to complete its installation, this must also have taken place) and you must have an ActiveSync connection established with your device. Download and execute ActiveSync Remote Display, a small application developed by Microsoft. If an error pops up when you run the executable, click OK to dismiss it (the viewer will still work).

Zebra (formerly Motorola)

  • 700C (Support only for current customers - Latest released version of SyVox Client software is not supported on this end-of-life product)
  • Intermec CK3 in Q4 2010 when used with a newly released audio adapter (Intermec Part Number: 850-823-001). This adapter should be available after November 22, 2010.
  • The CK61 is certified. Installation instructions under construction.

Deployment on Device

A quick and easy method of making sure that the SyVox client is reinstalled after a coldboot on the Zebra devices is to place the required CABs in the \Application folder and place a file in the \Application\Startup folder. This file is a simple text file with the commands that should be run to reinstall SyVox (works with other applications that need to be reinstalled after a coldboot). This is a Zebra feature not a SyVox feature and so is available on the Zebra terminals only. The reinstall methods for other terminals are slightly different.
